Plan to attend your home inspection to see first-hand what the inspector notes, and learn some important details about the house — like how to use the water, sprinklers, heater, electricity, etc.
At your inspection:
• You may find yourself crawling behind and under things to see what the inspector is pointing out so wear casual comfortable clothing.
• The inspection may take 2-3 hours depending on the square footage of the home.
• Be sure to take notes so you don't forget the small issues the inspector finds, if you find a major issue the smaller issues may be forgotten and unaccounted for.
• Give the inspector space to work and have him call you over if he wants to give details on something he has found. Hovering around him and asking lots of questions will only slow him down.
